Hot Metals Laboratory

The Hot Metals Laboratory immerses Mechanical Engineering Technology students in the dynamic world of metal casting and foundry operations. Equipped with a working foundry, this lab provides students with hands-on experience in the complete metal casting process, from mold creation to molten metal pouring and post-processing. With access to essential foundry tools, furnaces, sand mixers, and protective equipment, students learn the intricacies of shaping metals under high temperatures in a safe, controlled environment. In this lab, students apply theoretical knowledge to practical tasks, mastering the properties of different metals, mold design, and casting techniques. This experiential approach equips students with an in-depth understanding of hot metal processes and quality control, preparing them for specialized roles in industries that rely on advanced casting and metalworking techniques. The Hot Metals Laboratory bridges classroom concepts with real-world application, fostering technical skills that are foundational to a successful career in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
