Human Resource Development Major Outcomes

Graduates with the Human Resource (HR) Development Major will be able to:

  1. Apply core HR and talent development theories, SHRM-aligned competencies, and evidence-based practices to design, evaluate, and improve HR systems, learning programs, and people-focused organizational processes.
  2. Use data, analytics, and evidence-based decision-making to diagnose organizational needs, interpret workforce data, assess HR and talent strategies, and recommend actionable solutions that support organizational performance.
  3. Demonstrate effective communication and consultation skills-including analytical writing, strategic presentation, coaching, and interpersonal influence-to support stakeholders, organizational leaders, and diverse employee groups.
  4. Exhibit collaborative leadership in diverse, multicultural, and cross-functional teams, integrating empathy, inclusion, conflict management, and shared decision-making to advance organizational goals.
  5. Develop and implement innovative, technology-enhanced HR and talent solutions using tools such as HRIS, AI-supported HR technologies, digital learning platforms, and immersive/experiential technologies to strengthen workforce capability and organizational resilience.
  6. Model the character traits of ethical, socially responsible, equity-minded, and continuously learning HR professionals who uphold SHRM's behavioral competencies while contributing to positive workplace cultures.
