Online Graduate Certificate in Advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems
Transform Industries with Unmanned Aerial Systems
From precision agriculture and infrastructure inspection to public safety, air transportation, last-mile delivery, and real estate imaging, drones have become essential tools in the modern workforce. As their use accelerates, organizations require leaders who can safely integrate drone operations into existing systems while leveraging their full analytical and operational potential.
Purdue University's 100% online Graduate Certificate in Advanced Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) provides a comprehensive, policy-driven and technology-focused approach to UAS. The program equips you with knowledge and practical skills needed to operate, manage, and innovate within the airspace ecosystem.
Build Deep Knowledge of UAS Policy and Technology
Students in the online graduate certificate program will experience Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) through a policy-based and technological lens, gaining a deep understanding of current UAS and airspace integration laws, including preparation to earn the FAA Remote Pilot Certificate. You will design data acquisition missions, select appropriate sensors, and process and interpret aerial data using modern GIS platforms. Coursework also explores how UAS fits within broader communication and cybersecurity systems, preparing graduates to anticipate and mitigate threats such as GPS spoofing and signal jamming while maintaining secure command-and-control operations.
By the end of the certificate, you will have the skills to operate safely, ethically and strategically within the modern airspace.
Stack Credentials toward a Master's Degree
For students who may be interested in a future master's program, we offer a fully online master's degree in Aviation and Aerospace Management (MSAAM). Three courses are required for the certificate program (9 credit hours), all of which may be considered for credit to the existing Master of Science in Aviation and Aerospace Management online degree program in the event you opt to continue in the master's degree program. Only credit hours associated with graduate courses for which grades of B or better were obtained will be eligible for transfer. Any additional conditions under which credit transfers may be made are determined by the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology.
