Describe your potential job duties
My potential job duties include parts ordering, implementing lean inventory strategy, problem solving stock out situations, and communicating with suppliers.
In what ways did the Polytechnic and/or Purdue help make you uniquely qualified for your new job?
The Polytechnic Institute curriculum got me familiar with manufacturing and engineering concepts that I knew would be applicable to any supply chain role while also exposing me to the business aspect of the industry. Overall, I felt confident I was a well-rounded candidate for positions!
How has the college or someone in the college helped you achieve your goals?
The industry knowledge that most of Purdue Polytechnic professors provide has definitely helped me achieve my goals. For example, Dr. Jim Tanoos got me excited to study in this field right off the bat my freshman year. He often brought in industry partners for class presentations and that was how I landed my first internship!
If you had a favorite class, project, experience, or professor, what/who was it, and why?
My favorite classes were with Dr. Matthew Stephens. Although the courses are challenging and Dr. Stephens holds students to a high standard, it is incredibly easy to pay attention to the lectures/material. He is a great lecturer and I have learned so much from his industry experience and written texts. I appreciate the way he hammers in the theoretical concepts while also facilitating projects that give you a taste of the real-world application.
Purdue Polytechnic helped me become well-rounded in both manufacturing and business concepts, which I knew would be valuable in any supply chain role. The curriculum gave me the knowledge and confidence to pursue positions in the industry. I also gained practical skills through classes like Strategic Supply Chain Management, Operations Planning and Statistical Quality Control."
