Mathew High
Matthew (Matt) High is a seasoned engineering professional with a strong background in heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and utilities. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2006 from Purdue University, where he was an active member of the sailing club, competing in regattas against other Big 10 schools. Matt began his career at Jacobs Engineering, designing HVAC, plumbing and utility systems for multi-million-dollar pharmaceutical research and manufacturing facilities. He earned his Professional Engineer (PE) license in 2012, while at Jacobs. In 2013, Matt returned to Purdue University as a utilities mechanical engineer, developing and implementing utility projects across the West Lafayette campus. His innovative work was recognized in 2015 when he received the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers Young Engineer of the Year award for his implementation of a free-cooling system at Purdue. Matt founded an LLC in 2015, providing engineering consulting services for commercial construction projects, specializing in HVAC, plumbing and utility designs.
Matt has since taken on various leadership roles at Purdue, including Plant Operations Manager, Plant Manager and Director of Energy and Utilities. In these positions, he oversees the day-to-day management of 24/7/365 operations and provides strategic direction through utility master planning. A dedicated advocate for the engineering community, Matt served as President of the Indiana Society of Professional Engineers in 2019-2020, where he championed licensure avenues for engineering technology graduates. He also completed an MBA with Purdue Global in 2020, further enhancing his leadership and management skills. Matt and his wife Amanda, whom he married in 2010, have two sons, Alexander (13) and Theodore (11). The family enjoys spending time together, whether coaching youth sports teams, leading scouting activities or exploring the outdoors through traveling, hiking, camping, boating and snow skiing.
