What made you decide to choose your specific major?
I chose the Polytechnic Institute because it had a strong presence in the aviation industry. I wanted a place where I would be academically challenged and still experience the community of smaller aviation school. I chose Professional Flight because I would like to fly professionally one day.
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
I love the Purdue aircraft. It is a privilege to fly aircraft with full glass cockpits, excellent maintenance, and simple layout. I also really enjoy access to the simulators for keeping up my currency and checklist flows.
What has been on of your favorite class projects?
I've particularly enjoyed coming up with presentations and essays on recent aviation trends. Many Professional Flight classes helped me learn experientially and not just from books and websites.
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
I am the assistant to the PurduSir of Performance Prep in the Purdue Varsity Glee Club where I accompany weekly rehearsals in the evenings. Also, I am the treasurer for Purdue Pilots, Incorporated, the flying club on campus. Finally, I participate in the Salt Company ministry.
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
It is not just about the destination. Stop and smell the roses sometimes. Blink and you'll miss the best parts about flying in college.
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
Don't be afraid to fail. Failure is how our minds grow.
