What made you decide to choose your specific major?

I chose the Polytechnic Institute because I wanted a hands-on, applied tech education, and Computer Information Technology fit perfectly with my interest in computing, cybersecurity, and systems.

What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?

I really enjoy how applied the coursework is, and how much access we get to industry-relevant tools and labs.

What has been on of your favorite class projects?

A favorite class project of mine was when I was required to create a VPN as well as a adblocker on a raspberry pi that was connected to my router.

What other activities are you involved in on campus?

I am also involved in Purdue Information Technology Professionals (PITP) as well as Machine Learning at Purdue.

What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?

I wish I knew how broad CIT really is. Within CIT there's a mix of networking, cybersecurity, programming, and systems. Thus, deciding what path fits best early helps you prepare for a future career and necessary certifications.

What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?

Get involved early, talk to professors, and take advantage of Purdue's clubs and resources. They really help with building connections before coursework gets too busy.
