What made you decide to choose your specific major?
I chose the Polytechnic because I love how hands on it is. As a visual learner, it helps me to not only gain the conceptual knowledge, but to also practice it myself! I choose CIT because I've always loved computers and programming so I wanted to learn a little bit about everything.
What are a couple of your favorite things about your program of study?
I love that CIT is so broad so I get to learn anyway from hardware, networking, and programming! My favorite has been understanding the intersection between hardware and software!
What has been one of your favorite class projects?
My favorite project was in CNIT 176, a hardware class, where I picked up a raspberry pi for the first time! I got to program the raspberry to record footage with a web camera! Awesome!
What other activities are you involved in on campus?
I'm involved in WIT (Women in Tech), PITP (Purdue IT Professionals), Makers (church), VariAsian (Kpop dance club), and volleyball!
What do you know about your program of study now that you wish someone had told you when you were choosing a major?
I wish I knew that the programming courses are introductory, so some information be redundant and projects more simplified. I found research and self projects a great way to built more meaningful projects.
What would be one piece of advice for prospective students or new Purdue students?
Savor each moment because it goes by quicker than you will ever imagine. Get out of your comfort zone and get involved in something you love-you just might find your closest friends!
