The Laboratory of Organic Bio-Electronics (LOBE) at Purdue University conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of organic electronics and biological systems. LOBE's work in organic electronics focuses on designing and synthesizing organic materials with desirable electronic properties, such as conductivity, to create flexible and cost-effective electronic devices. In the realm of printed electronics, LOBE is developing piezoelectric 3D printing materials and exploring 4D printing technologies, aiming to integrate structural and electronic printing for rapid prototyping of low-cost robots. Additionally, the lab is advancing biosensor technologies by creating devices capable of detecting specific biological analytes, including biomarkers present during food digestion, to monitor and analyze biological processes.
