Eli Lilly Wearables - Team 25

Scientists at Eli Lilly (EL) are looking for better resources to optimize their data collecting methods. After implementing the RealWear HMT-1 devices they discovered roadblocks such as background noise, unsuccessful cloud transferal, and transcription errors. Lilly scientists want to seamlessly capture their in-lab data using this wearable in real-time.

Our goal for this project involves enhancing the effectiveness of the HMT-1 wearable used by EL engineers and scientists in laboratories.

Automated Assembly Line - PPI High School

The problem presented to the team is to create a functioning micro assembly line. The design is intended for the Purdue Polytechnic Institute High School to introduce students to the automation process. Due to the project’s introductory nature, the process must be enticing to the students, while also teaching them of the assembly process. Both students and teaching faculty at the Purdue Polytechnic Institute High School will be interacting with the assembly line, making them the intended users for this Capstone Project.

Team 9

The School of Engineering Technology (SoET) uses Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality headsets to facilitate learning and Research. The current storing method is impractical and takes up a lot of space.

Team 8 - HYDAC Solenoid Actuator

Improving the response time and output force of solenoid linear actuators is the primary goal of this project, aiming for a fifty percent enhancement. Our client, HYDAC, deploys these actuators in controlling hydraulic valves. Enhanced actuators would optimize hydraulic system controls. These actuators must endure varying temperatures, input voltages, vibrations, shocks, and exposure to moisture and water due to diverse application environments.

Team 7

This project goes into the examination of the Oregon Tool Chainsaw performance, user safety, and the use of modern technology to enhance user experience. Most modern power tools and equipment have adapted to current advancement of modern technology by adding key features that protect the user and keep the tool in ideal condition. While several power tools have undergone a process of evolutionary advancement over the years, chainsaws have predominantly remained unaltered in their fundamental design and functionality.

Team 6 Walqer Cane

Knee osteoarthritis is relatively common among the older generation. A big issue with osteoarthritis is the knee adduction moment, causing deflection in the knee. Waler LLC hopes to improve the living situation of people suffering from osteoarthritis with their walking cane. However, fall risk is a big factor when understanding canes and walkers. Too heavy of a cane can discourage use if the patient is weaker than usual. Falling is a huge liability and can even lead to death in older, more fragile patients.
