Dr. Heung Jin Oh is an Assistant Professor in the School of Construction Management Technology in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute at Purdue University and the director of Wii Lab, Worker-centric Intelligent Infrastructure. He completed his Ph.D. in Construction Management in the School of Building Construction and his M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before pursuing graduate studies, he worked at Midas IT, a global company specializing in CAD and CAE software development for the AEC industry.
At Wii Lab, he advances Smart and Sustainable Worker-centric Intelligent Infrastructure for Data-driven Evolution in construction (S2-WIDE). His research uses large scale data, including skill and task analytics, spatial computing, statistical methods, AI, etc., to understand how workers, skills, and intelligent tools interact over time and space. By building worker-centric data pipelines and learning environments, he develops practical models and tools that support industry, educators, and public agencies in making evidence-based decisions about workforce development and technology adoption.
In addition to research, Dr. Oh is deeply committed to teaching and mentoring the next generation of construction professionals. His teaching philosophy centers on fostering curiosity, encouraging hands-on learning, and building data-driven problem-solving skills so that students can grow as thoughtful, collaborative leaders and innovators who contribute to the future of the built environment and society.
