Yu Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Practice at the Bowen School of Construction and a registered architect. Prior to joining Purdue, Yu held a leadership role at PHANOMEN in Indianapolis, where he specialized in hospitality design. His work ranged from locally celebrated restaurants and bars, such as Livery Indy, to projects for distinguished institutions, including the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields.
Yu's work in (post)digital image-making and representation is heavily influenced by contemporary design discourse and the renewed interest in architectural aesthetics. These interests are reflected in both his pedagogical approach and professional practice, with a focus on visual representation and imagery as primary generators of design.
