The Integrated Sensing and Smart Solutions Laboratory (ISoL) at Purdue Polytechnic is a multidisciplinary research facility dedicated to developing and adapting novel sensor and sensing technology-based smart solutions for real-world applications. The lab's mission centers on advancing discoveries to deliver solutions in safety, sustainability, and healthcare domains. This is achieved through rigorous research, comprehensive student training, and collaborative engagement with regional, national, and global partners.

ISoL adopts a solution-focused, system-based approach, striving to create innovative solutions that can make a significant impact. The lab's research encompasses developing and integrating methods for olfactory, gustatory, and vision sensing for real-world applications. For instance, the lab has developed intelligent artificial noses and smart materials for sensors aimed at enhancing food safety by detecting bacterial contamination in meat.

Led by Professor Suranjan Panigrahi, ISoL emphasizes not only technological innovation but also educational research. As an inventor and educator, Professor Panigrahi focuses on developing innovative products and processes with positive societal impact. He is also dedicated to training students to be creative and innovative, actively contributing to programs like the National Science Foundation's Improving Undergraduate STEM Education.

Through its interdisciplinary focus and commitment to societal impact, ISoL exemplifies Purdue University's dedication to leveraging technology for the betterment of society.
