During this 4-week short program, students will learn about perspectives in Engineering and Innovation through innovative and interactive teaching. While planting the seeds of an innovative  and sustainable engineering project, students will enjoy hands-on experiments and acquire valuable international experience for their professional futures. Students will get to know French culture and the beautiful city of Lyon, and learn some French. This short program is also a perfect opportunity for students to discover INSA Lyon, a place they may want to come back to in their course of studies!

Students should choose between tracks 1a and 1b. Track 2 is compulsory.

Track 1a. Connected Devices and Smart Devices - 45 hrs. lectures

Prerequisites: algorithmics and any programming language

  • Introduction to the Internet of Things (case study-based course)
  • Smart and assistive environment project

Track 1b. Management and Innovation in Europe - 45 hrs. lectures

  • Introduction to project management of innovative products and services
  • Economics and management of innovation in Europe
  • Essential skills of entrepreneurs in innovation-driven start-ups 

Track 2. French Language, Cross-Cultural Communication, Industry, and Society - 45 hrs. lectures

  • Introduction to French as a foreign language
  • Developing intercultural competence
  • Industry and society

Activities

  • Guided tour of Lyon
  • Dinner in a typical French restaurant
  • Two day trips, such as a visit to the Beaujolais region (wine tasting) and Annecy
  • Party with INSA students
  • Farewell evening

Depending on a variety of factors, activities may change.

Who can apply

  • All Science and Engineering students at undergraduate or graduate level
  • Tracks 1a and 1b are entry-level courses, with Track 1a requiring prerequisites in algorithmics and any programming language
  • French language classes in Track 2 are divided into groups from beginners to advanced-level students

Costs include:

  • Shared accommodation (shared bedroom for 2 with small kitchen and bathroom)
  • Breakfasts, lunches, and some dinners from Monday to Friday
  • Participation and transport for all leisure activities organized by INSA Lyon
  • Return trip from the airport of Lyon (Saint-Exupéry airport) to the campus
  • A 30-ride metro/tramway/bus ticket
  • Access to wifi on campus

They do not cover plane tickets and personal activities on weekends.
