Program Description

This 3-week program will offer a section of TECH 12000 abroad. Munich, Germany and Lyon, France will be the primary cities in order for the program to utilize two Polytechnic strategic partner university locations: Munich University of Applied Sciences and INSA Lyon. 
Students will engage in critical analysis of real-world problems and global challenges. They will demonstrate the ability to recognize opportunity and to take initiative in developing solutions applying the principles of human centered design. Students will be able to communicate effectively and to work well on teams. Problems and solutions will be examined from societal, cultural, and ethical perspectives. TECH 120 teaches the principles of human centered design and we will visit industries to highlight problem solving in real-time while comparing what impacts the problems in the U.S., Germany and France.

  • Monday, July 12th- overnight flight to Munich
  • Tuesday, July 13th- arrive in Munich, Group lunch, Guided city walking tour
  • Wednesday, July 14th- tour Munich University of Applied Sciences, Group lunch, Class session, Free evening
  • Thursday, July 15th- Class session, Industry visit, Olympic Park tour, Visit BMW Welt
  • Friday, July 16th- Scavenger Hunt, Class session in the English Garden, Free evening
  • Saturday, July 17th- Neuschwanstein Castle/Tegelbergbahn trip OR something else “fun” around Munich
  • Sunday, July 18th- Dachau Memorial Site visit, Free afternoon, Group dinner
  • Monday, July 19th- Class session, Group lunch, Ayinger Brewery tour, Free evening
  • Tuesday, July 20th- Class session, Deutsches Museum, Industry visit, Group dinner
  • Wednesday, July 21st- Flight to Lyon, Group lunch, Walking tour of city, Free evening
  • Thursday, July 22nd- INSA Lyon tour, Class session, Industry visit, Group dinner
  • Friday, July 23rd- Class session, Guided walking tour, Resistance Museum, Free evening
