Technology, Innovation, and Culture in Germany
Program Description
Germany is home to leading universities and industries at the forefront of technology development and adoption. Industrie 4.0 is a collaborative effort of the German government, industry, and academia to change the nature of work and the environmental impact of the manufacturing sector. This program focuses on how Germans implement Industrie 4.0 technologies in various industries and introduces students to opportunities for longer-term studies in these areas at partner universities. The program's goal is to introduce students to the unique structural, cultural, and historical elements that have and continue to influence this collaborative initiative that is changing the landscape of manufacturing worldwide.
Tentative Program Itinerary
- Sunday, May 11th- Arrive in Frankfurt, train to Mainz, visit Mainz Cathedral, Gutenberg Museum, St. Stephan's Church, Kirschgarten, Group Dinner, Team Building Activity
- Monday, May 12th- Rhine River Cruise, visit Lorelei, Roman Theatre, Group Dinner
- Tuesday, May 13th- Visit Darmstadt University, Group Lunch, Merck tour, Group Dinner
- Wednesday, May 14th- train to Stuttgart, Mercedes-Benz Museum, Group Dinner
- Thursday, May 15th- One Click Metal production tour, Mercedes-Benz production tour
- Friday, May 16th- Reutlingen University visit, Group Lunch with Reutlingen students, Learning Factory session, Social Mixer & Group Dinner with Reutlingen folks
- Saturday, May 17th- Free Day to explore Stuttgart
- Sunday, May 18th- Train to Munich, walking tour of Munich, Group Dinner
- Monday, May 19th- Allianz Arena, Olympic Park, BMW Welt & production tour
- Tuesday, May 20th- Allianz Arena operations tour, Viktualienmarkt, Brauerei Aying Franz Inselkammer production tour, Group Dinner
