Purdue Polytechnic professor inducted into Purdue University Teaching Academy

Abrar Hammoud, associate professor of practice in the Department of Technology Leadership and Innovation at Purdue Polytechnic Institute, has been inducted into the Purdue University Teaching Academy. She was recognized during the university's Teaching Excellence ceremony on October 15.

The Teaching Academy brings together faculty committed to advancing teaching and learning across the university. Fellows serve as advocates for educational excellence, fostering collaboration, sharing effective teaching practices, and supporting a culture that values teaching as central to Purdue's mission. As a member of the 2026 cohort, Hammoud joins educators from across Purdue's disciplines in advancing these efforts and strengthening the university's commitment to undergraduate education.

Hammoud shares, "I'm excited to be part of the Teaching Academy because it's a community that recognizes teaching not just as something we do, but as something we can continually learn to do better. To me, advocating for teaching excellence means creating opportunities for educators to learn from one another, share different approaches, and find new ways to engage students. Ultimately, the impact of those efforts extends far beyond any one classroom."

Hammoud's induction follows her receipt of the Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award earlier this year, Purdue's highest honor for undergraduate teaching. The award recognizes faculty who demonstrate exceptional dedication to student learning and educational excellence.
