Purdue Polytechnic student wins top prize in Indianapolis kitchen design competition

Kaatje Chesson, a Purdue Polytechnic interior architecture student in Indianapolis, recently won first place in the National Kitchen and Bath Association Indiana State competition with a proposed kitchen redesign of the historic Propylaeum Mansion carriage house in Indianapolis.

Chesson created the design as part of her INT 22400 Residential I: Kitchen and Bath class with Brenda Morrow, associate professor of practice for interior architecture in Indianapolis. Chesson won the honor while competing with students from the large design programs at Indiana University, Indiana State University and Ball State. Along with her honor, she received a $1,000 scholarship.

"This award recognizes the outstanding talent, creativity and commitment of our students,” Morrow said. “Kaatje’s design demonstrates her talent, and also represents the innovative, real-world approach to design we provide to students in the program.”

Congratulations, Kaatje—Purdue Polytechnic is proud of your achievement, excellence and creativity in representing the college!
