Solar Wind Pump

This project team has been tasked with making a small-scale model of this water pump, with the objective of using solar and wind energy to power the pump. This small-scale model will then be sent to officials in Peru for the large-scale model.

Ink Age Determinations and Testing randomly acquired characteristics (RACs) for tire mark comparison

Ink Age Determinations: This project seeks to provide a means of evaluating differences in the color of printed inks due to age.

Testing randomly acquired characteristics (RACs) for tire mark comparison: Develop a means of holding car tires so their damage can be cataloged to compare against tire impressions.

Hydropower Collegiate Competition (HCC)

The United States currently has over 90,000 total dams, with only 3% producing hydroelectric power. This leaves approximately 87,000 dams available for our team to choose from. With renewable energy becoming an increasingly important factor in the energy landscape of the United States, this massive number of non-powered dams (NPDs) creates great opportunities to expand renewable energy and decarbonize the energy sector.

Hinchman Racing Uniforms Point of Sales

The project aims to streamline and integrate Hinchman Racing Suits ordering, inventory control, and invoicing processes. Hinchman has been making racing suits since the 1920s and today outfits Indy 500 drivers and sells replica suits. The existing technology of the Hinchman ordering process starts with their generic website to display the racing suits. Once the customer has made their suit ordering decision, the customer must call Hinchman and manually place their order.

Hinchman Income

Hinchman Indy, a historic name in motorsports based in Indianapolis, has been producing racing suits for customers for many decades. Although this product that Hinchman takes pride in is of high-quality standards and has achieved high customer satisfaction, it has been proven that it does not represent a sufficient revenue stream for Hinchman.

Group 8 - DER Optimization Program

The DER Optimization Program is sponsored by Eaton and is a software interface that optimizes user specified power systems and identifies the optimal configuration of PV panels and Wind Turbines for the provided site data. The interactive GUI takes the location, load demand, and multiple PV and Wind Turbine configurations and uses a MILP optimization function to output the optimal DER type, quantity, and power distribution in correspondence with two weighted objectives that the user can specify for a higher renewable presence or lower cost.

Group 7: Dexterous Robotics for Industrial Solutions

Our project aims to demonstrate the viability of integrating a 5-finger robotic end-effector on assembly lines, working harmoniously alongside human operators. While Eaton employs a variety of robotic arms in their current assembly operations, these do not include 5-finger end-effectors collaborating directly with humans. This robotic solution is intended not only to match the efficiency of human labor but also execute these tasks quicker, safer, and for extended durations.

Group 25: AI Maritime Maneuvering

Universities in Indiana will compete in an artificial intelligence maritime maneuvering robotic challenge. The challenge is to utilize machine learning to give autonomous maneuvering capabilities to an existing LPV (Low Profile Vessel) for multiple waterborne operations. Teams will integrate sensors, motor controls, and machine-learning algorithms for autonomous maneuvering. The challenge is hosted by Trine University and the US Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane.
