A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an experienced and ambitious PhD in materials science and engineering to undertake research on the microstructural control of monotectic alloys for electronics applications. Based in the Purdue Center for Materials Processing Research, you will apply metallurgical principles to produce desired microstructures in monotectic alloys and evaluate the electronic properties of the monotectic alloys with different microstructures. The project is supported by Purdue Polytechnic Institute, previously College of Technology and an applied research institute among 10 colleges at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.
To be considered, you will hold, or be about to obtain, a PhD in materials science and engineering. Expertise in aluminum alloy development and microstructural characterization by using TEM (Titan 80-300) techniques including EELS is essential, and previous experience in electronics is desirable.
You should have proven ability to work independently, possess strong analytical skills, and be able to present results in an effective manner. You should be able to interact effectively with collaborators from different departments of Purdue University and other universities. The ability of coordinating research activities of students from different departments is essential. You are also expected to supervise the day-to-day research work of about five postgraduate students. Appointment will be made on merit.
