I am an Associate Professor and director of the Virtual Reality Lab in the School of Applied and Creative Computing and a core faculty member of the Applied AI Research Center at Purdue University. My research revolves around virtual reality, intelligent virtual agents, and human-computer interaction. Specifically, I develop methodologies and algorithms to bring virtual characters to life, and apply concepts from cognitive and experimental psychology to better understand how humans interact with them. In the past, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher (2016) in the Department of Computer Science at Dartmouth College. I hold a Ph.D. (2014) in Informatics and an M.Sc. (2011) in Multimedia Applications and Virtual Environments, both from the Department of Informatics of the University of Sussex, and an integrated Master's degree (B.Sc. & M.Sc., 2009) in Audiovisual Science and Art from the Department of Audio & Visual Arts of Ionian University. I am a member of ACM and IEEE. I serve as Associate Editor for the Computer Animation and Virtual Worlds, Frontiers in Virtual Reality, Behaviour & Information Technology, and Empathic Computing journals, as well as on the organizing and program committees of many conferences in the virtual reality, computer graphics/animation, and human-computer interaction fields. I have received Best Paper Awards from the IEEE ISMAR (2024), ACM TiiS (2023), and ACM SIGGRAPH VRCAI (2022), and Honorable Mention Awards (Top 5%) from the ACM CHI (2022) and ACM CHI PLAY (2021). Outside of the office, I enjoy playing tennis.
