After years of continuous growth, enrollment in Purdue Polytechnic, the college for technology at Purdue University, held relatively steady in fall 2025. A total of 6,792 students are studying at our West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations, as compared to 7,019 students at this time last year.
One year ago, 6,189 students (5,030 undergraduates and 1,159 graduate students) were enrolled in Polytechnic programs in West Lafayette—a number which represented the eighth consecutive year of record-high enrollment in the college. Additionally, 830 students (735 undergraduates and 95 graduate students) were enrolled in Polytechnic programs at the new Purdue University in Indianapolis campus in fall 2024.
In 2025, total enrollment in the college declined slightly to 5,647 undergraduate and 1,145 graduate students.*
The modest decline in total enrollment is reflective of the university’s choice to “admit a slightly smaller class in 2025 given the surprising jump in yield rate in summer 2024.”
The number of admitted new beginner students actually increased by approximately 8.4% over the previous year (2,568 vs. 2,785 students), but the number of students who accepted the university’s offers of admittance to Polytechnic programs declined from 1,065 to 1,019.
The incoming class is among the college’s most academically prepared ever, with an average ACT score of 29.0, average SAT score of 1292 and average GPA of 3.73.
In fall 2025, 26% of Polytechnic undergraduate students are female, an increase from last year’s 24.1%.

Indiana residents comprise 52.7% of the college’s undergraduate students. Non-residents comprise 37.7% of undergraduates, and 9.6% are international students.
Purdue Polytechnic continues to be the university’s third largest college by enrollment, surpassed only by the College of Engineering and College of Science.*
