Purdue Polytechnic, the college for technology at Purdue University, achieved all-time high enrollment for the eighth consecutive year. In fall 2024, 6,189 students are studying at our West Lafayette location, including 5,030 undergraduates and 1,159 graduate students.
One year ago, 5,912 students (4,846 undergraduates and 1,066 graduate students) were enrolled in Polytechnic programs in West Lafayette.
Additionally, 830 students are now enrolled in Polytechnic programs at Purdue University in Indianapolis, including 735 undergraduates and 95 graduate students.
Undergraduate and graduate enrollment grew by 3.8% and 8.7%, respectively, in the college’s West Lafayette programs.*
With the college’s growing West Lafayette programs plus new beginners and continuing students who officially joined the college through the expansion of Purdue University in Indianapolis, Purdue Polytechnic now has 7,019 enrolled students.
“Purdue Polytechnic focuses on experiential learning and real-world experiences that aim to make our graduates industry ready from day one,” said Daniel Castro, dean of the Polytechnic. “Eight years in a row of record-high enrollment in our West Lafayette programs reflects outstanding work by our faculty and staff, and this new achievement also demonstrates that students believe in the quality of our programs. We are determined to share this success with the faculty, staff and students in Indianapolis who now call Purdue Polytechnic home.”
The incoming class remains among the college’s most academically prepared ever, with an average SAT score of 1271, average ACT score of 28.3 and average GPA of 3.68.
In fall 2024, 24.1% of Polytechnic undergraduate students are female, a slight increase from last year’s 22%. Underrepresented minorities comprise 15% of Polytechnic undergraduate students, a boost from last year’s 13%. Both percentages reflect the newly combined demographics of enrollment at the college’s West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations. In Indianapolis, 30.2% of Polytechnic undergraduates this year are female and 32.1% are underrepresented minorities.
Indiana residents comprise 54.4% of the college’s undergraduate students. Non-residents comprise 35.8% of undergraduates, and 9.8% are international students.
Purdue Polytechnic continues to be the university’s third largest college by enrollment.*
