The students here at Purdue Kokomo are continuing the project from last year. The machine is a modern version of a novelty blow molding machine. As it stands, the machine is mechanically sound but is inoperable due to a lack of working electrical controls. The goal of this project is to fix the machine so that it has working controls and can safely and reliably create parts. This will make a great impression on anyone who looks at this project, as it will showcase the abilities that the students at Purdue Kokomo have developed throughout the course of their education.
Create an electrical control system for a non-functioning injection molding machine. The control system must operate various functions including injection, clamping, heating, and part ejection. In addition to the operation, there must be an emergency stop circuit that completely cuts all power to the machine in the case of machine runaway or pressing of the manual E-Stop button.
